Maybe it because the Christmas break is rapidly advancing on us, but recently we’ve had a spike in advisers asking us how to make the most of their Adviser Ratings profile. There are two very simple things you can do: Get Reviews and share your profile with your friends. Getting reviews has major advantages via Google searches, as does sharing your profile. To find out more – read on…
It’s no secret that online research has become embedded behaviour for the majority of people in today’s society. In fact, vast majority (around 90%) of consumers research online before making a substantial purchase of a service of product. The arrival of internet search has fundamentally transformed they way people search for information. Nowadays, if you want to find something out, you search online; and we all know, to do this people use Google.
Google and Adviser Ratings
1. Get Reviews – It Gives You A Star Rating
Adviser Ratings is recognised by Google as an independent ratings and review platform. This means that as long as you have at least 1 review on your profile, when you Google your name, the potential for a link to your Adviser Ratings profile (with a star reviews ranking below it) is massively increased. As you can see below – it’s not hard to imagine how a prospects eyes will be drawn to the search returned link with the Star Rating attached to it – that is your free Adviser Ratings profile with at least one review on it! The rating shown by Google is based purely on your client reviews - it displays your average Star Rating based only on the reviews you receive. This has huge benefits to you and your digital footprint and helps increase your Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). Basically - more reviews = Greater SEO.

Independent Validation
Of course, you most likely have your own website and maybe even listings on other sites, but the Star Rating is the key differentiator. Star Ratings are now so ubiquitous across many sectors (including restaurants, hotels, movies and even children’s playgrounds!) that consumers now inherently know they apply to independent feedback and validation from other consumers. This independent validation is the real benefit of engaging with your free Adviser Ratings profile and inviting your existing clients to review you.
Even if an existing client refers one of their friends to you – one of the first things they are likely to do is find out a bit more info about you – and Google your name. Wouldn’t it be great if you had a near 5 Star Rating of you come up when someone searched your name?
2. Sharing – Get Eyeballs On Your Profile
After independent validation, the second leverage point regarding your profile relates to SEO. Getting lots of reviews can help here too, as it means lots of people are visiting your profile. Getting views on your profile page is the main game as far as Google goes.
Ostensibly, Google ranks internet pages according to how popular they are – so getting more eyeballs on your profile page means Google will recognise your page popularity and rank it higher when it lists pages in response to your search terms (there’s more to it, obviously we’re just touching on the basic’s here!!).
Keeping this in mind, to this end for SEO – it doesn’t matter who is looking at your profile page – as long as it’s getting looked at! For this reason, we encourage advisers to share a simple link to their profile page not only in marketing email campaigns, but also on social media platforms.
And not just your business ones – but your personal Facebook as well! We’re sure if you posted a message like the one below to your friends, they’d like to see it!
“I love my job and it’s great to be recognised with some positive feedback. Check out some of the great reviews I have received on Adviser Ratings here”
It’s that simple. How many of your friends do you think would check out the link you supplied to your profile? They’re all eyeballs on your profile page!
Other SEO
In addition to this, Adviser Ratings is continually taking steps to improve our own site ranking and weighting with search engines through means such as “indexing” our entire site for SEO. As our ‘weighting’ increases, so too are any pages that are listed on our site – such as your own profile page. You can help strengthen this process for your own profile by sharing links to your profile as we’ve suggested. But also, by sharing reviews or articles you write that are published on our site as much as you can. Use the the widgets, free buttons and badges available within your profile and also re-post from the buttons available on your profile page (see picture) on social networks such as twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
If you are an adviser who is unsure of the online world of SEO, SEM and digital marketing, that’s fine. When you engage with your Adviser Ratings profile you can leverage off our skills and expertise in this area. That way, all you have to do is get reviews from your clients, keep your profile updated and let the digital world work for you whilst you continue to do what you do best!
Just get a few reviews on your profile as a starting point and take it from there!
