Many people ask me why I moved from Civil Engineering to Financial Planning. The answer is simple: while both jobs are fundamentally about building a better community, Financial Planning allows me to help people directly, face to face. The pleasure I get from helping people buy their first home, become financially independent or ease their way into retirement cannot be measured. As I told a colleague once some years ago: 'have a job you enjoy, and never work a day in your life'. I have a job where I help people get the most out of life, to achieve their aspirations and dreams. It simply does not get better than that. I am especially passionate about helping fellow professionals, be they doctors, engineers or scientists: too often I meet people who have put a lifetime of effort into their careers, but never allow themselves the time to spend on their personal financial situation. My job is to help you understand your situation, explain your options, to develop a strategy to help you meet your goals, and manage that strategy with you. With over 10 years in the Financial Planning Industry, I am a proprietor of the Alderley Practice of RI Advice Group, previously known as RetireInvest. We specialise in personal financial advice solutions for people at all stages of their lives - just starting out, raising a family, looking to retire or considering aged care options.
