I’m a financial adviser, podcaster, and second-generation family business owner who believes great advice isn’t just about wealth — it’s about meaning. At Stephan Independent Advisory, I work alongside my brother James to help family business owners, private foundations, and multi-generational families navigate complexity with more clarity and confidence.
Our firm was built on independence and ethics. We operate under our own Australian Financial Services Licence and are recognised by the Certified Independent Financial Advisers Association of Australia (CIFAA). That independence means no product conflicts, no hidden incentives, and no influence other than what is in the client’s best interest. Transparency and evidence-based decision-making sit at the core of everything we do.
In 2025, I was honoured to be named a finalist for the FAAA Financial Planner of the Year award — recognition that reflects not only my work, but the commitment of our entire team to professionalism, integrity, and care. Our clients entrust us with their life’s work, and we take that responsibility seriously.
I believe money is only valuable when it supports the life you want to live. That belief drives how I advise, how I teach, and how I contribute to the profession. I’ve lectured in financial planning at RMIT and La Trobe University, helping develop the next generation of advisers with a strong ethical foundation and a client-first mindset.
I’m also the creator and host of the podcast It’s Never About Money (INAM) — now in its sixth season — where I explore the connection between meaning, wellbeing, and financial decision-making. Whether I’m speaking with health experts, leaders, researchers or everyday Australians, the goal is the same: to shine a light on how money affects our wellbeing, relationships, and identity, and to encourage people to think differently about what a “good life” really looks like.
What makes my work unique is the blend of independence, technical capability, and human insight. Clients often tell me that they come to us for the strategy, but stay for the clarity, calm, and partnership they feel along the way. I see advice as a long-term relationship built on trust — grounded in governance, strengthened by education, and guided by the belief that your values matter just as much as your balance sheet.
If you’re looking for an adviser who takes the time to understand your story, challenges your thinking respectfully, and helps you build a financial life aligned with your purpose, I’d be glad to help.

Get in touchEvery engagement begins with a short clarity call to determine whether we’re the right fit for one another. If aligned, clients are invited into a no-cost, no-obligation three-meeting process, where we take the time to understand their goals, structure, values, and the complexities of their circumstances.
Only when mutual clarity is reached do we offer an ongoing partnership under a fixed-fee retainer model. This ensures advice is conflict-free, predictable, and centred on long-term stewardship rather than product sales or portfolio size. Clients often describe this alignment as the moment they feel genuine relief — knowing their adviser sits entirely on their side of the table.
