"Ms Ryan reviewed our client file after replacing an adviser at Whittaker Mcnaught and advised us, she found no issues and found advice appropriate. My wife and I were not allowed access to our file, eventually received it through 3rd parties. There were switches into high risk investments without our signatures, risk profile uncompleted, lack of disclosures…. list goes on. Either she is incompetent and lacks due diligence on her knowledge of financial services or she was told to withhold that information by her superiors. Either way, on our case, she failed to exercise a duty of care she owes to any client under any circumstances and that should be a concern for anyone considering her as their financial adviser. "

"A few years ago we were very fortunate to meet Kathryn. Her advice in helping us prepare for retirement and beyond has been extremely valuable to us. Not only is her expertise second to none, she has the ability to put complex financial information into layman's terms. We are extremely satisfied with the results we have achieved through Kathryn's knowledge and skill as a financial adviser. "

"Kathryn has always been extremely professional in her approach to our personal financial situation and needs in retirement, whilst maintaining a very amiable, friendly and personal attitude to our relationship. This gives us the confidence to trust in her advice and never feel hesitant to contact her at any time that we may have a query about our financial affairs. We have had no hesitation in recommending her to others."

"If you are reading this review I would like to put forward my version of my limited dealings with Mr and Mrs Wilmott. Prior to my arrival at Whittaker Macnaught an official complaint had been raised by Mr and Mrs Wilmott with the management of Whittaker Macnaught in relation to advice provided by their original planner who had retired. This complaint was being investigated by the company. When I joined the company the Wilmott’s file was given to me in my capacity as an employee of Whittaker Macnaught. Mr and Mrs Wilmott’s investment account was simply transferred to me at the time due to the requirement of the product provider that all accounts be assigned to an adviser as a contact point. At that time all investments had been sold down and the portfolio contained a small portion of managed funds which had been frozen through the GFC. I had nothing to do with the original advice provided, nor any conversations or reviews the Wilmott’s held with their financial planner. While he was a client of Whittaker Macnaught he was not a client of mine. At no point did I provide Mr and Mrs Wilmott with a personal review of their situation. I did read through their file when asked by the then General Manager of the company to sit in on an appointment with her and Mr and Mrs Wilmott to discuss their complaint. This appointment was driven by the General Manager. I was then asked to make a file note of the discussion which I duly did. I had no further input into Mr and Mrs Wilmott’s complaint. With regard to Mr and Mrs Wilmott not having access to their file. This was the legal property of Whittaker Macnaught and as such it was not up to me to provide it to them. This would have been a management decision. With regards to the paperwork in the file, to the best of my knowledge I believe this was reviewed by the Financial Ombudsman Service and, under the advice framework at the time, their decision was to take no action against the previous adviser or Whittaker Macnaught. As you can see I had no influence on the original advice provided to Mr and Mrs Wilmott, nor any influence in regards to the outcome of their complaint. I have always prided myself on delivering quality advice whilst acting in the best interest of my clients (as evidenced by the reviews of my current clients). If I was incompetent or lacked due diligence, as suggested by Mr Wilmott, I would certainly not be currently employed as a financial planner. I have never had a complaint lodged against my advice in my entire career in the industry. Now that you have read my response I would be only too pleased meet with you to see where I can be of assistance to you. Please feel free to give me a call or drop me an email."
